We previously demonstrated that expanding renal lymphatics before injury affords protection from CKD progression after AKI.36 We have also demonstrated that induction of kidney lymphangiogenesis, both genetically and using NP delivery of a VEGFR-3 ligand, can reduce established hypertension and alter the immune cell populations in the kidney.36,51 In this study, we sought to test whether expanded renal lymphatics after the onset of kidney disease could improve kidney function or inflammation. The gene discussed is FLT4; the disease is kidney disorder.
