In this paper, our results show that when the SK3 signalling pathway, which mediates colon diastolic function, is downregulated, the excitability of colon smooth muscle contraction is relatively increased, which may be one of the main factors leading to clinical diarrhoea in patients with colitis, thus providing a new direction for the clinical treatment of patients with diarrhoeal colitis. This evidence concerns the gene KCNN3 and colitis.
