Previous evidence has suggested the existence of 4 midline glial populations (glial wedge, indusium griseum, midline zipper, and the glial sling) within the CC.45,46 In addition, GFAP-positive astrocytes have been identified in the CC.47 Therefore, these observations suggest that the CC could serve as an origin for gliomas. The gene discussed is GFAP; the disease is central nervous system cancer.
