Torok et al. conducted a study in a group of 69 children diagnosed with morphea and showed significantly higher plasma levels of IP-10 and IL-17A and other cytokines—MCP-1, IL-12p70, GM-CSF, PDGF-bb, IFN-α2 and IFN-γ—in morphea patients compared to controls. This evidence concerns the gene IFNA2 and localized scleroderma.
