Significant increases in IFN-γ, IFN-α, TNF-α, and IL-6 responses, along with marked inhibition of OXPHOS responses, support the hypothesis that systemic chronic inflammation, exacerbated by metabolic conditions such as obesity, can contribute to the development and progression of neurodegenerative diseases. Here, IFNG is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
