Characteristic features of immune modulation in epilepsy include an activated and pro-inflammatory T lymphocyte response (both CD4+ and CD8+), interaction between T lymphocytes and activated microglia, an increase in IL-7 CD4+ and CD8+T-Lymphocytes, a reduction in LAG3+CD8+T-lymphocytes in peripheral blood, and increased IL-1B, IL-8, IL-12p70 and MIP-1β in epileptic focus [55]. This evidence concerns the gene CD8A and epilepsy.
