Further analysis of the population-scale massively parallel single-cell RNA sequencing (MARS-seq) dataset, which includes skin samples from 97 SSc patients (both lcSSc and dcSSc) and 56 HC [18], revealed only one significant DEG with log2FC ≥ 0.5 (IFITM3) in the overall skin macrophage population (Supplementary Table S4, available at Rheumatology online). The gene discussed is IFITM3; the disease is systemic sclerosis.
