EpCAM is particularly useful for detecting CTCs in luminal breast cancer (ER+/PR+) [19–21], non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) adenocarcinoma [22, 23], hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) [24–26], pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) [27–29], and early-stage colorectal cancer (CRC) characteristics [30–32] where epithelial characteristics are preserved. The gene discussed is EPCAM; the disease is non-small cell lung carcinoma.
