The ACE gene comprises 26 exons and has many polymorphisms, notably an insertion or deletion (I/D) of a 276 bp Alu repetitive sequence in intron 16 which has been reported to influence levels of ACE [12, 13], thus leading to the postulation that ACE I/D is a possible cause in the development of hypertension. The gene discussed is ACE; the disease is Hypertension.
