COVID-19 infection alters a patient’s immune system and causes the cell-mediated immunity pathway to become ineffective. It increases inflammatory cells such as cytokines and interleukins, reduces CD4 and CD8+ T cells, and causes lymphopenia, endothelialitis, endothelial damage, and thrombosis leading to opportunistic fungal infection [2,5]. This evidence concerns the gene CD4 and lymphopenia.
