Interestingly, PTX3-deficient mice have been reported to be attenuated from ischemic acute kidney injury, the severity of osteoarthritis, and the metabolic inflammation associated to high fat diet-induced obesity (Bonacina et al., 2019, Chen et al., 2012, Qiu et al., 2023). The gene discussed is PTX3; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
