A homozygous missense mutation in the human gene encoding CNPase correlates with white matter loss and associated neurodegeneration (Al‐Abdi et al., 2020), and CNP gene mutations in dogs have been linked to lysosomal storage disease and myelin abnormalities (Bullock et al., 2022; Keller et al., 2024). The gene discussed is CNP; the disease is lysosomal storage disease.
