In conclusion, despite the inconsistencies in epidemiological studies evaluating V and its association with kidney damage and the experimental evidence, our findings suggest that V is related to early kidney damage in the pediatric population and support the possible occurrence of damage in proximal tubular epithelial cells due to biomarkers such as KIM-1, NGAL, and the presence of proteinuria. The gene discussed is LCN2; the disease is Nephropathy.
