Another relevant study suggests that in a PCa xenograft model, the loss of hormone dependence is marked by irreversible histological alterations associated with an expression of secretory MUC5B (mucin‐5B) and other secretory mucins, MUC2 and MUC6, independent of the histological differentiation sub‐type (Legrier et al., 2004). Here, MUC2 is linked to posterior cortical atrophy.
