Breast cancer is usually caused by epithelial cells and human exposure to carcinogens through diet and the environment encompasses contact with many fat-soluble genotoxins like polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), nitro-PAHs, and heterocyclic aromatic amines which have the potential to trigger mammary tumors in rodents (Martin, 2001).Toxins generated by Helicobacter pylori and Bacteroides fragilis can activate the human enzyme spermine oxidase, which causes the production of ROS and hydrogen peroxide to result in DNA damage (Vivarelli et al., 2019; Alvarez-Mercado et al., 2023). This evidence concerns the gene SMOX and breast cancer.
