In addition to surgery itself, co-adjuvant intravitreal steroids [13–19] and anti-VEGF agents [20–23] effectively reduced macular edema, proliferative vitreoretinopathy severity, and ameliorated disorganization of retinal inner layers both in previously vitrectomized and non-vitrectomized eyes. This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and macular retinal edema.
