EGR1 expression significantly increased 18.5-fold (p < 0.01) at 2 h, peaking at 20.1-fold (p < 0.01) by 4 h post-infection, whilst EGR3 gene expression increased 15.8-fold (p < 0.05) at 2 h, increasing further to 32.5-fold (p < 0.0001) by 4 h post-infection.
