In a wider context, and considering that innate CD8 T-cells are present locally in solid tumors such as ovarian carcinosis (10), further investigations are needed to determine whether their possible contributory role in cancer surveillance in CML could be extended to other cancers, and also whether their targeting by immune cheek-point inhibitors, especially anti-PD1, could enhance their anti-tumoral functions. The gene discussed is CD8A; the disease is cancer.
