Continuous oral cilostazol treatment was effective in reducing the level of painful peripheral neuropathy in streptozotocin-induced type I diabetic rats, which may be related to denervation of sensory nerves in the epidermis of the hind paw of DM rats, with a significant reduction in TRPV-1-labeled penetrating nerve fibers (46). Here, TRPV1 is linked to type 1 diabetes mellitus.
