Inactivation of FOXO1 and FOXO3 also results in hypertriglyceridemia and hypercholesterolemia due to increased hepatic lipid secretion and mild steatosis, indicating that FOXO1 and FOXO3 work together to inhibit critical pathways in adipogenesis as well as enhance gluconeogenic genes (33).
