The exosomal cargo protein QSOX1 is significantly reduced in the blood of tumor patients compared with healthy human controls while Glypican-1 (GPC1) is significantly increased in exosomes, and a series of recent studies have suggested that dysregulation of exosomal proteins could serve as a promising novel biomarker for the early diagnosis and non-invasive risk stratification of CRC.145 At present the monitoring of single extracellular vesicles (SEV) is also helpful in the diagnosis of colorectal cancer. This evidence concerns the gene GPC1 and colorectal cancer.
