Among the 823 cases, only 323 (39.2%) reported previous HIV testing, and 428 (52.0%; 95% CI: 48.6–55.4) were late presenters (clinical AIDS or CD4+ T-cell count < 350 cells/μL), with a median CD4+ T-cell count at diagnosis of 338 (25th–75th percentile: 167–516) cells/μL (refer to Supplementary Table S1).Fifty-four individuals were diagnosed with acute HIV infection and were excluded from further analysis. This evidence concerns the gene CD4 and HIV infectious disease.
