IFNG and uveitis: Interferon‐gamma (IFN‐γ), as a characteristic cytokine of Th1 cells, is not expressed in the normal eye, but both IFN‐γ mRNA and protein can be detected in the inflammatory eyes of experimental autoimmune uveitis (EAU) and uveitis patients, and their expression is temporally related to the onset of uveitis, indicating that IFN‐γ is involved in the induction and pathogenesis of uveitis.18
