While oxidative stress and damage can occur by multiple mechanisms in the setting of obesity, our results showing increased iron deposition, decreased GPX4, and increased ASCL4 in the livers of obese mice support ferroptosis as an active mechanism in our model of western diet‐induced obesity and MASLD/MASH in male mice. Here, ASCL4 is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
