STAT3 and hyperlipidemia: Carbenoxolone, an active metabolite in licorice, has demonstrated potential in treating obesity and hyperlipidemia by activating the JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway and reducing the expression of sterol regulatory element-binding protein 1c (SREBP-1c) and fatty acid synthase (FAS), thus protecting the liver from lipid metabolic damage induced by a HFD (Chen et al., 2019).
