CD4 and cancer: Overall, across the different disease states (normal, FAP mucosa, benign polyps, dysplastic polyps, adenocarcinoma) we observed an increase in stem-like cells, endothelial cells, cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), CD8+ T cells, regulatory T cells (Tregs), exhausted T cells (present only in adenocarcinoma/sporadic CRC), and M2 macrophages and decrease in enterocytes, goblet cells, transit-amplifying cells (TA), cycling TA cells, CD4+ T cells, NK cells and neuroendocrine cells (Fig. 1b, c).
