IL6 and infection: DC function may be subverted during infection, leading to imbalanced adaptive immune responses: more protective responses, such as T helper (Th) 1 activity being delayed or suppressed (low IL-12 production) and harmful responses (Th2, with some evidence of Th17) being favored (IL-4, IL-10, IL-33, IL-13, IL-22, IL-6, and TGF-β) [190,191].
