These results are similar to those from earlier studies that showed L. rhamnosus LM07 and L. plantarum LM17 improved colitis symptoms in a DNBS-induced mouse model by lowering intestinal permeability, as shown by lower levels of FITC-dextran in the serum and myeloperoxidase (MPO) in colonic tissue [27,28].
