BWA prevents the fatty liver changes induced by an HCD; this may be attributed to the presence of hexacosanol, which has been identified to stimulate autophagy commenced by the upregulation of an autophagy-related gene (ATG16L) and anti-microtubule-associated protein 1A/1B light chain 3 (LC3-II) [30], resulting in the inhibition of hepatic lipid accumulation and subsequent fatty liver changes [30,42]. This evidence concerns the gene MAP1LC3A and fatty liver disease.
