Most often, acromegaly is caused by a pituitary adenoma; however, it may also be associated with ectopic secretion of somatoliberin (GHRH, growth hormone-releasing hormone) or GH by neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs, neuroendocrine neoplasms), especially with the localization of the primary tumour in the thymus, bronchi, or pancreas [5]. The gene discussed is GHRH; the disease is neuroendocrine neoplasm.
