For this purpose, the authors used a human hepatoma Huh-7 cell line that was stably expressed as a luciferase reporter gene driven by an SRE-containing fatty acid synthase (FAS) promoter (Huh-7/FAS-luc) and identified xanthohumol as a potent SREBP inactivator because it reduced the level of mature forms of SREBPs. This evidence concerns the gene FAS and hepatocellular carcinoma.
