In a study conducted by us on the brains of 65- and 85-year-old AD patients (with a disease course of 10-15 years) in parallel to age-matched healthy controls, we observed that the number of GFAP-positive astrocytes in AD (65 and 85 years old)-affected brains was less pronounced than that observed in normal 85-year-old individuals [204]. The gene discussed is GFAP; the disease is Alzheimer disease.
