We also found that the EDAS total score and the subscale score of preoccupation with body image and body weight were both positively correlated with serum irisin concentrations in the highly trained RG group, indicating that the increased irisin level from high training activity may favour the development of eating disorders in this very special group of female athletes, the RG group, where low body weight is considered to be a competitive advantage [1,4,25].
