In another study, a target analysis of l-DNAm of genes related to the Ufmylation pathways (which are related to the formation of Mallory–Denk bodies) found that Ufm1, Ufc1 and UfSP1 were hypermethylated in ASH and NASH when compared to normal subjects [28]. The gene discussed is UFSP1; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
