DNMT1 and endometriosis: Endometriosis pathogenesis, a medical condition in which the tissue that normally lines the inside of the uterus grows outside of it, leading to fertility problems, is mainly regulated by hypoxia that down-regulates DNMT1 through miR-148a and causes global hypomethylation, whereas inflammation triggers a rise in DNMT3a loci-specific hypermethylation.
