One hour of exposure to 10 klux fluorescent light leads to a decrease in retinal levels of docosahexaenoate in the wild-type mouse and in a mouse model of Stargardt’s disease abca4(−/−)rdh8(−/−) double knockout mouse and retinal degeneration which is more pronounced in the double knockout than in the wild-type mice [99]. Here, RDH8 is linked to Stargardt disease.
