This finding, combined with previous research showing that rodent models of PTSD exhibit increased susceptibility to Ang II-induced hypertension [38,39], has led us to hypothesize that while SPS does not directly cause long-term hypertension, it may prime the cardiovascular system for heightened reactivity to subsequent stressors, thereby predisposing individuals to hypertension development.
