Alzheimer’s disease (AD), one of the most widespread neurodegenerative diseases (NDDs) in human beings, is characterized by the pathological aggregation of amyloid-β (Aβ) and hyperphosphorylated tau (pTau) proteins, eventually forming amyloid plaques (APs) and neurofibrillary tangles (NFT), respectively [5]. This evidence concerns the gene MAPT and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
