Human HMGN3 is most abundantly expressed in the pancreas and pituitary, and studies have shown that HMGN3 is associated with resistance to anticancer drugs such as camptothecin and paclitaxel in human liver cancer-derived cell lines, and this drug resistance is related to the expression of transcription factors such as NFκB and AP1 [34], although the specific mechanisms remain unclear. Here, HMGN3 is linked to liver cancer.
