Periodontitis, as a chronic inflammatory disease, triggers the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), which not only mediate tissue destruction in the periodontal tissues but also activate the SNS [2,3,4]. Here, IL6 is linked to periodontitis.
