X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) is caused by pathogenic variants in the ABCD1 gene, leading to impaired peroxisomal ß-oxidation of saturated straight-chain very long-chain fatty acids (VLCFAs), resulting in VLCFA accumulation in the plasma and tissues [1]. Here, ABCD1 is linked to X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy.
