Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), which accounts for 1%–2% of all thyroid cancers, originates from parafollicular C cells and is distinguished by its high metastatic potential and poor prognosis, often identified through elevated serum calcitonin levels (Okafor et al., 2021; Kaliszewski et al., 2022). Here, CALCA is linked to medullary thyroid gland carcinoma.
