SLC5A2 and chronic kidney disease: Meta-analyses have provided evidence of the efficacy of sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitor (SGLT2i) [4–9], a new class of second-line medication for glycemic control, to reduce the rate of CKD progression in patients with T2D; real-world data showed a reduction in CKD risk of 9.5–14.2% relative to other second-line medications [10].
