Inflammatory cells and macrophages at the injury site after ionizing radiation induce the synthesis and release of cytokines, promote the differentiation of fibroblasts into myoblast fibroblasts, stimulate the formation of collagen and fibronectin, and accelerate the deposition of extracellular matrix, which inhibits matrix degradation, leading to the formation of pulmonary fibrosis (45–47). Here, FN1 is linked to pulmonary fibrosis.
