In Asian population, Zhao et al. (101) found in a one-sample MR study that genetically predicted alcohol consumption was associated with hypertension in men of Chinese descents (OR = 1.19, p = 0.011), but not in women (p = 0.317), using the association of rs671 in the ALDH2 gene with alcohol use in 2,349 participants. This evidence concerns the gene ALDH2 and hypertensive disorder.
