Glaucoma is a multifactorial disease with etiology that reflects the convergence of risk factors that include IOP and TGFβ2: epidemiological data correlate the incidence of POAG with the amplitude of IOP and [TGFβ2]AH (22, 72), while chronic increases of either [TGFβ2]i or IOP promote fibrotic remodeling of TM/SC and augment the flow resistance of the conventional pathway (17, 24, 25). This evidence concerns the gene TGFB2 and glaucoma.
