Initial studies by33 indicated a plasma‐based panel with 18 proteins, including epidermal growth factor (EGF), interleukins (ILs), tumor necrosis factor‐alpha (TNF‐α), and monocyte colony‐stimulating factor (M‐CSF), which could differentiate subjects with AD from control cohorts without dementia with greater than 90% accuracy (n = 139) using a filter‐based, arrayed sandwich enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay. This evidence concerns the gene CSF1 and Alzheimer disease.
