Tanaka et al. (2020) found through tissue analysis of clinical cases of 599 patients with stage I or II CRC that P4HA1 is mainly expressed in the malignant epithelial components of CRC. In addition, Gawel et al. (2019) found that the combination of P4HA1 with tripartite motif-containing 28 (TRIM28), procollagen-lysine, 2-oxoglutarate 5-dioxygenase 1 (PLOD1) and carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 5 (CEACAM5) proteins in the plasma of 80 newly diagnosed CRC patients and 80 healthy controls can serve as potential biomarkers for early diagnosis of colorectal cancer. Here, P4HA1 is linked to colorectal cancer.
