FOS and epilepsy: As it was previously demonstrated that lysine lactylation was induced by neural excitation, a key molecular mechanism for the development of epilepsy [96], with the detailed results showing the positive association of increase of lysine lactylation and the expression of the immediate-early gene marker of neuronal activity c-Fos [97], it is hypothesized that histone delactylation by HDAC1-3 may inhibit the development of epilepsy and prevent seizures.
