Compared to normal‐weight individuals, overweight individuals were slightly older (mean age: 46.5 vs. 42.0 years, had a lower education level [47.4% vs. 53.4%], had a higher inflammatory CRP level [median: 1.8 vs. 1.0 mg/L], and had a higher proportion of diabetes [8.4% vs. 4.7%] and cardiovascular diseases (6.6% vs. 4.8%)] (Table 1). Here, CRP is linked to diabetes mellitus.
